Peter Gilgan Centre for Research and Learning (686 Bay Street. Toronto, ON M5G 0A4. Canada)

GENERAL OBJECTIVES

  1. Discuss the morphologic aspects of congenital heart disease
  2. Discuss the relationship between morphology and echocardiographic diagnosis
  3. Discuss the role of echocardiography and other imaging modalities in decision-making for patients with congenital heart disease
  4. Understand the hemodynamics of congenital heart disease as evaluated by echocardiography

The main objective is to improve the knowledge of physicians, surgeons and sonographers who perform and/or interpret echocardiograms in newborn and paediatric patient populations or perform echocardiographic studies in adults with repaired congenital heart disease. The course will focus on the relationship between cardiac morphology and echocardiographic imaging. Morphologic demonstrations will be followed by case-based echo presentations.
